There is so much rain around, so we are doing lots of Lego and playing inside games, like this new one...
There are so many shapes and sizes available to make any number of designs and you don't have to use the pins (if you have little ones) although the hammering is great if you supervise of course.
We also did our annual playroom tidy up and started filling a bag for Lifeline. I explain to the boys that it is the right thing to do to give some toys away when we receive so many at this time of year.
We also made up our school boxes for next year and got these great desks at Crazy Clarks for $35. The boys love them and are quite excited about filling them up.
We will be able to move them outside in the natural light when we do our school work next year.
One of our gifts to Nanny and Poppy was a little concert where H sang along to Jingle bells.
We made laminated placemats for Nanny (covered in photos) our handpainted mugs and plates and diaries and calendars were a hit also.
Next year hopefully a few more handmade items.
We made Dad a Tshirt with our fabric crayons.
(J is a robot and H an alien)
When I saw this placemat I knew I had to make one. I got two plastic chopping boards ($2 each) and made a design with the sharpie pen. The mini car we had already and the crayons are mini ones also. This Chopping board placemat idea is fromhere.
I really enjoy the European tradition of celebrating Christmas Eve, so again this year we had our big dinner on the 24th. I always try to have something we haven't had before and this year it was quail eggs!
Quail eggs, smoked salmon and cottage cheese on snow pea tendrils.
Avocado, walnut, crispy chilli pancetta salad with caramelised red wine vinegar.
Lamb cutlets with pomegranate molasses and Morocan carrot puree.
(I made the molasses by reducing 1 cup pomegranate juice with sugar and lemon juice)
Zucchini ribbons with smoked feta and sauted pine nuts.
(you don't cook the zucchini, it has a lemon, garlic and olive oil dressing)
This was a real Christmas treat! It is a flourless chocolate cake with a hazelnut and chocolate meringue on top (served with cream and cherries).
